Passing Moods

“Some days you tame the tiger, and some days the tiger has you for lunch.” –Tug McGuen
According to Dr. Cliff Arnall, a doctor who specializes in seasonal disorders, January 24th is the most depressing day of the year. He came up with an equation that is broken down into seven variables – weather, debt, monthly salary, time since Christmas, time since failed quit attempt, low motivational levels, and the need to take action. This equation equals a very bad January 24th. I’m sure happy it’s behind us.
According to Dr. Arnall this is the time of year when the majority of people break their healthy resolutions and kick back to old habits. The bills from Christmas are all rolling in and the residue of the holidays is long gone. I personally am happy that the holiday season has passed.
I think the end of the Holiday Season should be a celebration in itself. Im thrilled they are over especially since I had to go to Orlando for Cheer two weeks before Christmas.  This past year was a definite stressor with all the activity around the Holidays. Sometimes, it is just a little too much all in one month.
The theory about January 24th however sounds about right. The formula was apparently created to assist a travel company analyze the patterns of travel. People are more motivated to purchase tickets to paradise when they are feeling down.
Now that Im thinking about it, Aruba is sounding very tempting right now. Im not even in a bad mood and I could have my bags packed in about three minutes. Having a plan, getting some sunshine or just a simple change of scenery can make an incredible difference in your mood. Or, simply embrace your bad mood and let it be. However Im always in the mood for a change of scenery-I can’t be the only one. xo
